RECONNECT

"Breaking the Ice"

Phase I

Reconnecting the child/parent relationship is the first phase in Hero Missions therapeutic Little Hero & Big Hero program.  “Breaking the Ice” is a key component to this program because it allows both our little heroes and their combat injured parents an opportunity to start communicating effectively with one another.  Here, our little heroes and their wounded, ill, and injured parent will participate in an online interactive courses that will provide tools for teaching them both more effective ways to start opening up the lines of communication by “Breaking the Ice.”

REpair

Phase II

"Melting the Ice"

Repairing the child/parent relationship is the second phase in Hero Missions therapeutic Little Hero & Big Hero program.  “Melting the Ice” between our little heroes and their wounded, ill, and injured parent is a critical step towards creating long term success because it is focused on improving the reconnection that the child and the wounded, ill, and injured parent has made in phase I.  Furthermore, phase II is the heart and soul of the therapeutic process because it will help strengthen the bond and build trust between our little heroes and their wounded, ill, and injured parent.  The primary goal of phase II is focused on developing consistent bonding type activities in order to instill long-term positive behavioral changes in both our little heroes and their wounded, ill, and injured parents.

Here, our little heroes and their wounded, ill, and injured parent will have access to a monthly activities calendar that the child and parent can participate in together over a minimum of a twelve-week period. Our little hero and their wounded, injured, and ill parent will be required to complete weekly activities together in order to move up the ranks of the program.  Upon each rank promotion, both the child and the wounded, ill, and injured parent will receive an award.  In order to graduate to Phase III of the Little Hero & Big Hero program, our little heroes and their wounded, ill, and injured parent must earn the highest rank of General.  (Rank details provided in parent package after application process is completed).

Phase III

"The Ice is Evaporated"

Rebuilding the child/parent relationship is the third phase in Hero Missions therapeutic Little Hero & Big Hero program.  “The Ice is Evaporated” is Hero Missions final step because it allows our little heroes and their wounded, ill, and injured parent to celebrate their accomplishment together.  This phase will solidify the bond that has been created or restored between our little hero and their wounded, ill, and injured parent throughout the duration of the Little Hero & Big Hero program.
